Strengthening Medicare
Ochre Recruitment has a contract with the Department of Health and Aging to recruit Overseas Trained Doctors into eligible vacancies in Districts of Workforce Shortage across Australia.
Under this contract Ochre Recruitment recruits doctors from eligible overseas countries, assisting the doctor with finding a suitable position and with Immigration, Medical Board Registration and relocation.Ochre Recruitment also assists employers to fill eligible vacancies across Australia with suitable qualified Overseas Trained Doctors.
There is no recruitment fee incurred by the doctor or employer. The Department of Health and Aging funds Ochre Recruitment to provide this service.
There are a number of criteria that must be met to place a doctor under the Strengthening Medicare scheme.
These include:
- The vacant position needs to be located in a District of Workforce Shortage (DWS)
- The placement needs to be for a minimum of 12 months.
- The position needs to satisfy a minimum Medicare Billing component.
- The Doctor must have a degree from outside Australia.
- The Doctor cannot have worked in Australia within the last 12 months.
