Description:

GP/VMO Position – nine GP sessions of 3.5 hours per week between 09:00 – 12:30 and 14:00 – 17:30, plus VMO on call at Lightning Ridge MPS, maximum 1 day in 2 and minimum 1 day in 3.

 Famed for having the largest known black opal deposits in the world, Lightning Ridge is a remote town in north-western New South Wales approximately 780 km northwest of Sydney. Standing about 6 km east of the Castlereagh Highway, it is served in commercial activities by the town of Walgett, about 75 km to the south.

 Lightning Ridge also flourishes as a tourism location, with a variety of activities, including a 5-star Olympic pool, water theme park, free artesian baths, free opal fossicking fields, mine tours and of course the Easter rodeo and annual goat race!

 With an unofficial population of around 3500 people, faces are continually changing with itinerant miners coming and going through the course of the year.

Role:

Providing GP services in nine sessions per week, the practice is open to patients between 09:00 and 12:30 and then again between 14:00 and 17:30, five days a week. In addition you will be responsible to be on call for the Lighting Ridge Multipurpose Service 1 out of every 2 to 3 days.

The MultiPurpose Service facility at Lightning Ridge is a modern and supportive location to work. The facility consists of 7 high care beds and 9 low care beds in nursing-type accommodation, as well as 3 acute care beds and 1 palliative care room. Accident and Emergency, as well as Ambulance services are on site.

Benefits:

A salary of $350,000 plus is available, as well as a car and accommodation in a 4 bedroom house.
